Be Creative: Mastermind

Thursday, 08 September 2011   |   Be Creative

Closely related to creative thinking is logic and deduction.  Logic and deduction can help you bridge the gap between your creative ideas.  There are many ways to improve your logical thinking but a good one is the game Mastermind.  Mastermind is great to play by yourself but is even better when you use it to teach a whole class to think logically.  It is also a lot of fun.

We have used Mastermind to teach a whole class many times and it always gets the students engaged and thinking in no time.

Want to be more creative in your drawing.  Here's a website where they are using random words as inspiration for drawings.  They grab a single word from our word generator then create a word based on that.  This can be a great way to get you out of your comfort zone when practicing drawing.  If you do it every day you should soon notice an improvement in your drawing.  You should also be creative and try different styles on a regular basis.  Drawing is fun and relaxing and a great way to stimulate your creative juices.  Give it a go for a month and see how you go.

Be Creative: Brainstorming Sessions

Tuesday, 26 July 2011   |   Be Creative

I have used our Creativity Games to help the entrepreneurs societies at UTS and UNSW be creative.  The sessions involved a series of games designed to help the group get into a creative mindset.  Following this we ran through a series of activities to brainstorm potential new business ideas.  Overall they were quite fun and the groups enjoyed them.  Using our games at the beginning of a session is a quick and fun way to wake people up and get them in an open and creative mindset, ready to be creative for the rest of the meeting.

Be Creative: Rapping to Random Words

Tuesday, 26 July 2011   |   Be Creative

This is a fun use of our random word generator.  In this video freestyle rapper Charron shows how you can use the random word generator to enhance your creative lyrics when practicing your freestyle rap.  While using random words can be a great way to help you write lyrics normally,  using it in this manner to bring about instantaneous creativity is quite impressive.  Give it a try and see how well you do.  You may be surprised by what you come up with when you are forced to be creative on the spot.

(Warning:  Some of the lyrics are a bit coarse.)
